Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest [2007]

£8.98

What better way to commemorate Star Wars 30th anniversary than with this double-length Very Special Episode, a full-scale, awesomely animated spoof that recasts George Lucas s saga with Family Guy s galaxy of characters: Chris (Seth Green) is Luke, Lois (Alex Borstein) is Princess Leia, Peter (Seth McFarlane) is Han Solo, but not, as expected, Jabba the Hut, Brian (Seth, again) is Chewbacca, Quagmire (and again, Seth) is C3PO, Cleveland is R2D2, Herbert, the creepy senior paedophile, is Obi-Wan (both voiced by Mike Henry), and, of course, Stewie (Seth, one more time) is Darth Vader (My diapers have gone over to the dark side). Poor Meg is reduced to a cameo as the hideous reptilian creature that haunts the garbage compactor. Blue Harvest is reverently faithful to A New Hope, while engaging in typical Family Guy pop-culture references (everything from old commercials to Doctor Who, Airplane, Dirty Dancing, and Deal or No Deal) and bizarre digressions (the iconic opening crawl detours into an appreciation of a way naked Angelina Jolie in Gia). Along for the wild ride are Judd Nelson, who contributes a voice cameo as John Bender for a Breakfast Club gag, Rush Limbaugh railing against futuristic affirmative action on Tatooine talk radio, and Beverly D Angelo and Chevy Chase as the vacationing Griswolds observing the rebellion from their orbiting station wagon. A Star Wars spoof in 2007 isn t exactly uncharted territory. As Chris Griffin notes in this episode s final moments, Robot Chicken brilliantly did it months earlier (and let us not forget Mel Brooks s Spaceballs from 1987, or, on second thought...). But the Force is strong with Family Guy, and who could resist the opportunity to hear the Muzak playing in a Death Star elevator? --Donald Liebenson, Amazon.com

Ignore those few idiots - People that rated this to be 1 star are complete idiots, do not listen to those fools, they have either never seen Star Wars, or prefe South Park, (Because apparently South Park is full of mature, deep, humour?)This spoof is absolutely brilliant and comes with plenty of laughs (once again, they are mainly star wars jokes, so if you haven t seen Episode 4, you better!)My favourite has to be when Cleveland-D2 gets shot and he shouts WHAT AM I? ARTOO-PAC? A very clever, very funny, very well written spoof of a Cult Classic.Family Guy does it again.10/10

Cry with laughing you will - The first time i saw this i nearly wet myself! It s short but vey funny! I liked the sofa bit alot....!

Fantastic! - Ok, I see how many people like/dislike this episode. Some are right, people who don t like star wars probably won t like this. But then again if you don t like star wars why are you reviewing or even watching the star wars episode? People who either don t like star wars or family guy shouldn t watch this. It will just divide and start fights if people try to watch and know that they won t like it. If you like it cool, I m with you on that one. If you don t keep your opinion to yourself because you probably just don t like a small aspect of it. In closing, if your a fan of both family guy and star wars you ll love this. If you aren t try sticking to the originals.

Had to force a few laughs.. but not bad at all. - Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest [2007]I caught a few minutes of this on a TV channel a while back and thought I would buy the DVD. I think some of the comedy in this is first rate! There are a few lines that don t translate too well for the British audience but in general a good buy I think.

Usual Family Guy humour - and that s not a bad thing - Family Guy are once again on the mark with this hilarious episode, funny affectionate spoof of Star Wars: A New Hope. Some really memorable gags such as the Tie fighter scene and Stewie as Darth Vader, really can t be missed if you are fan of Star Wars and Family Guy or either of the two.I suggest if you like this you should check out Robot Chicken s Star Wars special, as named dropped by Chris Griffin himself.
